Gaps | The Void
Wherever I end up going, I’ll always call Brighton home. There are certain sounds and images that I usually associate with the city. But strangely, beyond local band Gaps’ seaside artwork, nothing rings a bell. ‘The Void’, in part, comes off like modern-day campfire music; a strange meeting ground between Unkle and Midlake, believe it or not. Two musical polar opposites combining to create one, almighty heart-swell. Even though the elements are at best distant to my home city, the nighttime growl of the track will still always remind me of Brighton. ‘The Void’ is an unconventional, far from cliched journey back home. And you can apply it to just about any city at will.
